Des Voeux Chambers marked another wonderful year with a lively drinks reception at the Hong Kong Club last night.
The event was graced by the distinguished attendance of the Hon. Chief Justice Andrew CHEUNG, GBM, Mr. Paul T K LAM, GBS, SC, JP, Secretary for Justice, Mr. Horace CHEUNG, SBS, JP, Deputy Secretary for Justice. We also welcomed over 350 guests joining this special occasion.
During the welcome remarks, Winnie Tam SC and William Wong SC, Co-Heads of Chambers, shared reflections on DVC’s exciting journey over the past year.
With Catrina Lam SC joining as a new silk, and new tenants Stephy Lo, Phoebe Lee, and Duncan McCombe coming on board, DVC has grown to 102 members, including 26 silks and 46 barristers under 10 years’ call. We are also proud that nearly one-third of our members are female, highlighting our commitment to excellence and diversity.
This year saw the launch of DVC’s List of Independent Neutrals, welcoming distinguished mediators and arbitrators Bebe PY Chu SBS, Dr. Min Kyung Kim and Justice Nick Segal. Their expertise adds strength to our mission of shaping the future of dispute resolution.
Winnie also announced the impending publication of a new title by DVC members Calvin Cheuk, Kaiser Leung, and Charlie Liu, “Construction and Adjudication in Hong Kong” following the recent enactment of the Construction Industry Security of Payment Ordinance (Cap. 652).
