Jing En joined Chambers in 2021 after the successful completion of his pupillage under the supervision of Mr. Johnny Ma SC, Mr. Christopher Chain SC, Mr. Adrian Lai JP and Mr. Giles Surman.
Jing En graduated from the University of Cambridge (Wolfson College) with a BA in Law with Double First Class Honours and went on to obtain the BCL with Distinction from the University of Oxford (Christ Church). He was awarded a string of various scholarships and prizes for academic excellence from Cambridge, Oxford and HKU, including the Oxford Law Faculty Prize for International Commercial Arbitration.
Since joining Chambers, Jing En has developed a broad commercial litigation and arbitration practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work. He has been instructed in cases concerning fraud, company and insolvency law, banking and finance, probate and trusts, commercial law, competition law, employment law, family law and construction law. He has appeared before the District Court, Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal, whether as sole advocate in his own right or as a led junior.
Jing En also maintains a busy arbitration practice, having acted as both counsel and tribunal secretary in commercial arbitrations administered under HKIAC and SIAC rules, as well as enforcement of arbitral awards in Hong Kong.
Jing En was born and raised in Singapore. Prior to joining the Hong Kong Bar, he served as a Lieutenant in the Republic of Singapore Air Force, where he graduated top of his class in Officer Cadet School as the Air Force Sword of Honour.
