Book Launch: The Annotated HKIAC Rules 2024

Des Voeux Chambers and LexisNexis co-hosted a launch reception last Friday at the DVC Conference Centre to celebrate the publication of The Annotated HKIAC Rules 2024—a new practitioner-friendly guide to the 2024 HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules.

Co-authored by DVC members Frances Lok SC, Connie Lee, Yu Hin Jonathan Chan, Cherry Xu, Howard Wong, and Kwan Ping Kan, the book offers detailed and practical annotations on the key updates to the Rules. Coverage includes expedited procedures, emergency arbitration, tribunal formation, single arbitrations under multiple contracts, conflict-of-interest resolution, and cost determinations. This comprehensive resource is designed to assist practitioners in navigating ambiguities and controversies in the interpretation and application of the 2024 HKIAC Rules.

Michael Sit, Managing Director of LexisNexis Greater China kicked start the event with a welcome address, followed by an engaging panel discussion led by the authors. They highlighted the book’s key features and shared practical insights into how the Rules are likely to operate in real-world scenarios. The audience responded enthusiastically, contributing to lively exchanges and thoughtful debate throughout the evening.
