The British Chambers of Commerce’s 9th annual Hong Kong competition law event, co-organised with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, took place this Tuesday (21 March 2023).
Rasul Butt (畢仲明), Chief Executive Officer of the Competition Commission, delivered the keynote address highlighting the commission’s significant developments, objectives and enforcement policies.
Catrina Lam of Des Voeux Chambers was invited as a panellist, together with Lester Lee, Head of Litigation at the Competition Commission, and Laurent Bougard, Senior Associate of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Alastair Mordaunt, Antitrust Partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, moderated the session. The panel examined key enforcement trends, the use of alternative enforcement options as investigation outcomes, the practical implications of the increasing levels of cooperation between the commission and the police, the latest developments in the digital sector, as well as possible areas for reform.
