Des Voeux Chambers is delighted to announce that all four of its pupils – Isaac Wong, Kenneth Ip, Bella Chen and Julian Poon – have accepted offers to join Chambers as tenants, following successful completion of their pupillages.
Isaac Wong

Isaac graduated first in his year of 263 from the University of Cambridge (B.A. Law), winning the Winifred Georgina Holgate Pollard Memorial Prize for the most outstanding results in law. He then obtained a BCL with Distinction from the University of Oxford, where he won the Magdalen College Prize and held the Hong Kong Jockey Club Graduate Scholarship.
Before law school, he graduated with Highest Distinction from Duke University (A.B. Public Policy) and spent summers at J.P. Morgan (Hong Kong) and the Securities and Futures Commission. Isaac is a Bar Scholar.
Kenneth Ip

Kenneth graduated with First Class Honours in Law from the University of Hong Kong before obtaining the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from the University of Oxford. He was awarded the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence and the Honorary China Oxford Scholarship, and received a number of academic prizes during his studies.
Kenneth has further distinguished himself in advocacy through his success in mooting competitions including the Administrative Law Bar Association Moot and the UCL Senior Mooting Competition.
Bella Chen

Bella read Law at the University of Hong Kong, graduating with First Class Honours and earning a place on the Dean’s Honours List. She further obtained her Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) with overall distinction from the University of Oxford, where she had previously studied for one year as a visiting student. She was also the recipient of numerous scholarships and academic awards including the Peter Vine Scholarship, the M.W. Lo Memorial Scholarship, and the University of Oxford Law Faculty Prize in Incentivising Innovation.
Bella speaks native Mandarin and achieved top-ranking results in the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) in Zhejiang.
Julian Poon

Julian graduated with First Class Honours in Law from both the University of Hong Kong and University College London (fully sponsored under the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme). He then went on to complete the LLM at the University of Cambridge, followed by the PCLL at the University of Hong Kong (sponsored by the Hou De Charitable Foundation Scholarship).
During his studies, Julian represented UCL and Cambridge in various national and international competitions, winning prizes including the Best Claimant Memorandum Award in the 31st Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot and winning the XXIV Old Buildings inter-varsity moot for UCL. He also served as a research assistant throughout his studies at HKU.
