This week, DVC had the distinct honour of hosting a Welcome Tea Gathering with The Honourable Sundaresh Menon, Chief Justice of Singapore, alongside Neil Kaplan CBE KC SBS, at the DVC Conference Centre.
Winnie Tam SC, Co-Head of Chambers, opened the session with warm remarks and an introduction to DVC, its members, and independent neutrals.
In a fireside chat moderated by Mr. Kaplan, Chief Justice Menon shared reflections on his distinguished legal journey, tracing his path from his early days as an advocate in Singapore to his decades of service in the public sector. He, Mr. Kaplan, and DVC members then engaged in a wide-ranging discussion on pivotal issues, including the deepening cooperation between Hong Kong SAR and Singapore in international arbitration, recent legal developments in both jurisdictions, sustainable career pathways for the next generation of legal professionals, and the transformative impact of AI on the legal profession.
The gathering proved to be a valuable platform for strengthening cross-jurisdictional collaboration and exchanging perspectives on some of the most pressing challenges in law today.
