From 15 to 16 June 2024, the “Special Training Course on Foreign-related Arbitration – Zhejiang Young Foreign-related Arbitration Lawyers’ Practical Training Camp 2024” took place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Co-organised by the Department of Justice of Zhejiang Province, the Zhejiang Provincial Lawyers’ Association, and the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Shanghai International Arbitration Centre, “SHIAC”), the event attracted 100 mainland lawyers dedicated to foreign-related legal services in Zhejiang Province.
Cherry Xu from Des Voeux Chambers was invited to attend the camp as one of the mentors and delivered a seminar on the topic of “Preservation and Enforcement in Arbitration in the Mainland and Hong Kong”, focusing on the main differences between the Mainland and Hong Kong in terms of preservation and enforcement in arbitration.
Additionally, Cherry served as the presiding arbitrator of the second arbitral tribunal in the Arbitration Moot – Panel Adversary Session. She led the participants through a simulated arbitration case, allowing them to experience the practical aspects and challenges of arbitration. This session significantly deepened their understanding and knowledge of the arbitration system.
The closing ceremony was held in the afternoon of 16 June. Cherry and Mr Mou Di from Links Law Offices, delivered concluding speeches as representatives of the mentors, marking the successful end of this practical training camp.
