Our members Michael Lok, Jasmine Cheung, and Stephy Lo recently had the privilege of attending the University of Chicago Law School’s Executive Education programme in Hong Kong, titled “Global Insolvency: Emerging Trends and Expert Practice“.
The intensive three-day programme, held at Chicago’s beautiful campus in Hong Kong, brought together expert faculty from the bench, academia, and practice to explore the complexities of international and cross-border insolvency. The curriculum covered foundational frameworks including the UNCITRAL Model Law, judicial cooperation and communication, enterprise group insolvency, and emerging challenges including digital assets and crypto insolvency.
DVC’s José-Antonio Maurellet SC served as a member of the teaching faculty alongside the Honourable Madam Justice Linda Chan of the High Court of Hong Kong, the Honourable Judge Christopher Lopez of the US Bankruptcy Court, Professor Anthony J. Casey of UChicago Law School and Scott Atkins of Norton Rose Fulbright.
The programme provided an invaluable opportunity for practitioners to engage directly with sitting expert judges and leading global professionals through applied workshops and simulation exercises. DVC is pleased to support its members’ continued engagement with the latest developments in cross-border restructuring and insolvency law.
