DVC Sabrina Ho spoke at a seminar on the Arrangement of Mutual Assistance in Court-ordered Interim Measures in Aid of Arbitral Proceedings co-organised by the DoJ, SCIA-HK and SCIA

Jointly organised by the Department of Justice (DoJ), the South China International Arbitration Centre (Hong Kong) (SCIA-HK) and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), a seminar on “Recent Development and Implementation of the Arrangement Concerning Mutual Assistance in Court-ordered Interim Measures in Aid of Arbitral Proceedings by the Courts of the Mainland and of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region” was successfully held on 14 October 2022.

The seminar is one of DoJ’s annual events to share the latest development on the Arrangement. The event was held in hybrid mode with online streaming of the seminar which took place at SCIA-HK’s office in Two IFC, attracting around 1,500 arbitrators, lawyers, corporate lawyers, academics and other professionals from home and abroad.  Anthony Neoh SC, Chairman of the Board of SCIAHK and Vice Chairman of SCIA and Paul Lam SC, Secretary for Justice of HKSAR delivered the welcome remarks and opening remarks respectively. Ms Zhang Xinmeng, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Judicial Affairs Office of the Research Department of SPC gave a keynote speech on the key features of the Arrangement.

As one of the speakers, Sabrina Ho shared her first-hand experience on how the Arrangement has strengthened Hong Kong’s leading position as the dispute resolution centre in the Asia-Pacific region. She also explained, with reference to case authorities, the Hong Kong Court’s pro-arbitration approach in considering applications for interim reliefs in aid of arbitration.

Mr. Huen Wong, Executive Chairman of SCIAHK and Council Member of SCIA wrapped up the seminar with closing remarks, and the seminar concluded with a lively interaction between the speakers and the participants.
