As part of China Arbitration Week 2026, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) jointly organised a seminar entitled “Towards Transformation: New Opportunities for International Arbitration under the Revised PRC Arbitration Law” at the HKIAC Beijing Office last week. Des Voeux Chambers was honoured to support the seminar.
Victor Dawes SC, Co-Chair of the HKIAC, and Chuanhong Long, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CIETAC, delivered the welcome remarks.
Frances Lok SC of Des Voeux Chambers participated in a lively panel discussion on “International Arbitration in Transformation: Judicial Support and Procedural Innovation”, moderated by Chungang Dong, Council Member of the HKIAC and Partner at Jingtian & Gongcheng. Fellow panellists included Jessica Fei, Member of the HKIAC Appointments Committee and Partner at King & Wood Mallesons, Laurence Li SC of Temple Chambers, and Fei Lu, Director of the Business Development Division at CIETAC and Secretary General of the CIETAC European Arbitration Centre.
The discussion explored the evolving role of judicial support and procedural innovation in international arbitration under the revised PRC Arbitration Law. The panellists examined the implications of the recent revisions to the PRC Arbitration Law and the rules of HKIAC and CIETAC, and exchanged their perspectives on the latest developments. DVC looks forward to more engagement with the international arbitration community through professional exchanges and collaboration.
