During Hong Kong Arbitration Week, Mairead Rattigan SC from Des Voeux Chambers spoke at the seminar “Keeping it in the Family – Arbitration for Billionaires”, together with Jern-Fei Ng KC, Derek Lai, Vice Chairman of Deloitte and Janet Tobin, partner of Mishcon de Reya LLP. Jonathan Mok, partner of Karas So LLP moderated the session.
The panelists examined the specific issues and particularities arising from International Arbitration involving high-net-worth individuals, family offices and family estates, including individual participation in high-value commercial arbitration proceedings and succession issues, involvement of estates, trustees and beneficiaries in arbitration, enforcement of arbitration awards in national courts and the interplay between private commercial arbitration and injunctive relief in national courts involving individuals’ assets.
