Hong Kong’s Role in Global Arbitration Highlighted at UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Judicial Summit 2025

Des Voeux Chambers member Mr Adrian Lai JP, also Deputy Secretary-General of the Asian Academy of International Law, and National Correspondent of China to UNCITRAL, was invited to speak at the Judicial Roundtable held under the theme “Recent Trends in Dispute Resolution” at the 6th UNCITRAL Asia Pacific Judicial Summit during Hong Kong Legal Week 2025.

According to the 2025 International Arbitration Survey published by Queen Mary University of London, Hong Kong is ranked as the second most preferred seat of arbitration globally, and the leading seat in the Asia-Pacific region. At the session “Interactions between Alternative Dispute Resolution and Court Proceedings”, Mr Lai provided insightful deliberations on:

  • Hong Kong SAR’s contributions to the CLOUT database
  • The harmony and divergence of common law jurisprudence on selected issues in international commercial arbitration

The Judicial Roundtable brought together 49 delegates from 26 jurisdictions, underscoring the global significance of the discussions.
