Hosted by the ICC Young Arbitration and ADR Forum (ICC YAAF) and proudly sponsored by Des Voeux Chambers and BRG, an engaging fireside interview and dynamic panel discussion took place yesterday at the DVC Conference Centre in Hong Kong. The event drew over 60 legal professionals from across the region and was supported by the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration (Young ICCA).

DVC member Ellen Pang, also ICC YAAF Representative for North Asia, opened the event with warm welcome remarks. The Fireside Interview featured Ms. Claudia Salomon, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, in a conversation moderated by Thomas Fearis, Head of Business Development & Client Services (Asia Pacific) at BRG and ICC YAAF Representative for North Asia. Claudia shared reflections on her distinguished career in international dispute resolution and offered practical insights and guidance to attendees.

The panel discussion, titled “JV and M&A Involving Companies in Greater China,” brought together leading practitioners from Hong Kong and Mainland China. Moderated by Edward Taylor, Partner at A&O Shearman, the panel featured prominent speakers including Winnie Tam SC (Des Voeux Chambers), Mevelyn Ong (Sidley Austin), Lydia Tang (BRG), and Sijia Li (Fangda Partners). The speakers delved into common causes of disputes in cross-border JVs and M&As and provided actionable advice on dispute resolution strategies and value recovery. Audience members actively participated in the session, gaining valuable takeaways from the experts.

We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers and attendees whose contributions made this event a great success. The discussions fostered rich professional exchange and advanced the dialogue on JV and M&A disputes in the Greater China region.
