20 Jul 2026

On 18 July 2026,  Jacqueline Law and Paul Law from Des Voeux Chambers were invited to speak at the 2026 Legal Dynamic FT・Starlink Hub | Young Global Legal Talents Development Program – International Commercial Law Series in Shenzhen. They delivered a lecture on “Arbitration Agreements”, sharing their insights and practical experience on key issues on the subject.

The program is guided by the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Justice and the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, and jointly organised by CIETAC South China Sub-Commission, the Futian District Bureau of Justice and the Futian Working Committee of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association, among other organisations. Bringing together young lawyers and in-house counsel from Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the program aims to enhance capabilities in foreign-related legal services and support the international development of businesses. More than 100 practising lawyers and in-house counsel from Mainland China attended the lecture.

During the lecture, Jacqueline and Paul explored key issues relating to arbitration agreements, including their formation, interpretation, enforceability and the practical considerations arising in arbitration proceedings. The subsequent Q&A session generated lively discussion, during which the speakers exchanged views and practical experience with participants on issues arising in arbitration practice.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the organisers for the invitation and look forward to future opportunities for professional exchange and collaboration, contributing to the continued development of foreign-related legal talent and international commercial law practice.
