10 Oct 2024

The Practicing Law Institute (PLI)’s Eighth Annual Institute on Corporate & Securities Law in Asia took place on 2-3 October in Singapore. DVC member Jacqueline Law was invited to join as a panel speaker on Day 2 to compare recent developments in arbitration in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Moderated by Foo Yuet Min (Drew & Napier), other panelists included Prof Darius Chan (Singapore Management University), Sui-Hang Hui (Sidley Austin Hong Kong) and Vicky Zhao (JunHe Beijing). Speakers shared their observations on contrasting contingency arrangements/third party funding (ORFS rules in HK), and comparing the enforcement of interim measures/awards (especially vis-à-vis Mainland China). The panel also examined the multi-tiered clauses in the case CvD versus IRC v Lufthansa, and the impact of recent rule changes in HKIAC/SIAC.

The two-day event brings together experts from governments, corporations, banks, academic institutions, and private law to discuss the latest insights into the issues facing corporate & securities law practitioners in Asia.
