Judicial Roundtable on the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong: Recent Developments and Cross-Border Perspectives

23 Jun 2026

On 18 June, Des Voeux Chambers hosted a judicial roundtable, “Cayman Meets Hong Kong: Judicial Dialogue in Cross-Border Commercial Practice“, bringing together members of the judiciary from both jurisdictions to discuss recent developments in cross-border commercial law and practice.

We were honoured to welcome The Honourable Mr Justice Nicholas Segal, Judge of the Financial Services Division of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and Independent Neutral of Des Voeux Chambers; The Honourable Mr Justice David Charles Doyle CBE, Judge of the Financial Services Division of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands; and The Honourable Mr Justice Jonathan Russell Harris, Judge of the Court of First Instance of the High Court of Hong Kong. Look Chan Ho of Des Voeux Chambers moderated the session.

The panel considered the growing influence of Hong Kong authorities in Cayman proceedings, the role of judicial comity in managing parallel proceedings, and a range of practical issues arising in cross-border disputes between the two jurisdictions.

Our thanks to the panel for sharing their expertise, and to everyone who attended and took part in the discussion. We look forward to hosting further events of this kind.
