On 24 February 2022, Ms. Winnie Tam SC from Des Voeux Chambers was invited as one of the panelists to join a discussion on “Analysing the Thinking of International Commercial Arbitrators”. Organized by the Junhe Law Offices and supported by the International Chamber of Commerce International Court of Arbitration(ICCICA,) Drew & Napier LLC and China In-house Counsel Alliance (中国公司法务联盟), Winnie and four other renowned international arbitrators and arbitration lawyers from Singapore, Beijing and Shanghai shared their insights regarding the following topics:
- When nominating an arbitrator – what criteria should be considered, and from which source of information – a party or its counsel, could effectively conduct due diligence on arbitrator candidates?
- From the perspective of an arbitrator, how can a party or its counsel behave and perform to win trust from the arbitrator? What are the Do’s and Don’ts when a party or its counsel presents a case to an arbitral tribunal?
- Are there any differences in thinking patterns between Eastern and Western arbitrators when adjudicating arbitration cases?
