Stuart is a highly regarded international arbitrator with more than four decades of experience in international commercial dispute resolution. He has acted as arbitrator in over 150 international arbitrations and as counsel in more than 300 complex international commercial arbitrations, making him one of the most experienced practitioners in the field.
His arbitration experience spans a wide range of sectors, including international trade, oil and gas, other energy and natural resources, infrastructure projects, shipping, finance, insurance, pharmaceuticals, and shareholder and joint venture disputes. Stuart is regularly appointed in proceedings conducted under the rules of many of the world’s leading arbitral institutions, including ICC, CIETAC, HKIAC, SIAC, LCIA, LMAA, SCMA and DIAC and under UNCITRAL rules, and has extensive experience with disputes governed by both common and civil law systems across Asia, Europe, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
Stuart serves on the panels of arbitrators of numerous leading institutions, including the ICC, CIETAC, LCIA, SIAC and HKIAC, and is consistently recognised by Chambers and The Legal 500 as a leading figure in international arbitration.
DVC’s List of Independent Neutrals consists of experts in resolving disputes in a neutral role through mediation, arbitration, adjudication, private judging, or other forms of alternative dispute resolution, without practising as Hong Kong barristers. These Neutrals are each an independent professional, and do not carry on practice as barristers in Hong Kong.
