Last week, Des Voeux Chambers, in collaboration with Hongkong Land, hosted over 40 litigation experts from Hongkong Land’s Central Portfolio for the latest edition of the WOMEN in CENTRAL event: Navigating the Courtroom and Beyond: Inspiring Stories of Women Shaping Dispute Resolution.
The event kicked off with an engaging fireside chat featuring Frances Lok SC and Catrina Lam from Des Voeux Chambers, skillfully moderated by Louise Corbett, General Manager of Marketing and Communications at Hongkong Land.
In the small group discussions that followed, participants shared their experiences as female litigators in a traditionally male-dominated field. They explored challenges and brainstormed solutions for meaningful change, emphasising the crucial role of structural support, mentorship, and the importance of senior leaders setting the tone. Building a supportive community within organisations is vital for helping the next generation navigate challenges.
WOMEN in CENTRAL is a major initiative launched by Hongkong Land in 2024, aimed at creating an inclusive community within its Central Portfolio that can unite around gender diversity in the workplace and in leadership roles. This initiative brings together professionals – both female and male – through information-sharing events and informal gatherings to educate, connect, give back, and spread best practices.
