Justice Georges Affaki is a judge of the Qatar International Court, a Chartered Arbitrator, a member of the ICSID Panels of Arbitrators and of Conciliators, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration. He served two terms as a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration (ending in June 2021).
He is Empaneled with the leading international arbitral institutions on five continents (list available on request).
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) and member of the ACICA Practice & Procedures Board. He is recognised by Chambers amongst the Most-in-Demand Arbitrators in France, Europe and globally.
In 2019, Georges Affaki was appointed a Foreign Trade Counselor of France by Decree of the Prime Minister in recognition for his expertise in international trade and dispute resolution. He has been constantly renewed in that position.
He is fluent in Arabic, English, and French, with the ability to conduct proceedings and draft awards in all three languages.
Georges Affaki holds a Doctorate of laws and a Habilitation to Direct Research awarded by the University of Paris (summa cum laude), and a Bachelor’s degree in laws awarded by the University of Aleppo (summa cum laude).
He is available to be appointed as an arbitrator or mediator or to assist parties with other neutral dispute resolution techniques, such as conciliation and expert determination.
