The Standing Committee on Young Barristers (YBC) of HKBA hosted its second annual international conference “Evolution of an Advocate’s Role”, featuring elite speakers from around the world on 31 October 2024.
Des Voeux Chambers’ Kevin Lau moderated a panel discussion on how lawyers can qualify locally but also practise globally. The panel featured Jern-Fei Ng KC, Lee Irene, Manwa Yip, and Aaron Yoong. Ping Kan Kwan moderated another session on professional ethics, featuring Anthony Graham KC and delegates from the European Young Bar Association Fatih Özdemir and Ross White.
The conference also featured other guest speakers, including the Hon. Mr. Justice Thomas Au, the Hon. Lady Drummond, Tom Smith KC, Queenie Lau SC, Isaac Chan, Darryl Chew and Kee Hui Yee. This conference was well attended by over 100 solicitors, barristers, and guests from the Mainland China, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
