Des Voeux Chambers is delighted to announce the election of its very first Academic Associate, Professor Jordan English from the University of Oxford, and a previous DVC Oxford-HKU Visiting Fellow at the University of Hong Kong (at which Dr English is appointed a Cheng Yu Tung Residence Fellow)

In the words of our Head of Chambers, Dr William Wong SC, “This election marks the launch of our dedicated academic branch. This initiative reflects our commitment to giving back and strengthening ties with academia. The Academic Associate will enrich our Chambers through research collaboration, scholarly insight, and community engagement. This move aligns with our vision to nurture legal education and foster intellectual exchange. We look forward to advancing the legal profession together with this new academic partnership, and continuing to nurturing the next generation of legal minds with our academic partners”.

Speaking on his appointment, Dr English comments that “It is a real privilege to be joining Des Voeux Chambers, who have been incredibly welcoming and supportive both of students entering the legal profession and of exchanges between legal academia and the broader profession. I am very much looking to forward to continuing to develop my association with the legal profession in Hong Kong and, in particular, building on the strong relationships I have with members of Chambers.”
